Willie, a grown man with a child's mind, loved to hunt in the Arizona desert with his homemade bow and arrow. His mother watched over him, praised him for his hunting ability, and good heart. His younger brother, Burt, called him names and wanted him out of his life.
One day when Burt tracked down Willie in the desert to insist he leave home and stop being a burden to everyone, the black bird came to help Willie handle his troubles. The rabbit hunter has to find a way to survive, even if it means indulging an action he can't take back, even if it means his life will change forever.
Rabbit Hunter eBook Billie Sue Mosiman
This is the second title I've read from Billie Sue Mosiman. The first one was Frankenstein: Return From the Wasteland, which I absolutely loved. Rabbit Hunter was no different. The story revolves around Willie Loper, a mentally-challenged thirty-eight-year-old who still lives with his mother and younger brother Burt in the small community of Gazina, Arizona. Willie isn't good at much, but he can hunt rabbits even with his walking disability. Constantly made fun of by the townspeople and his brother Burt, Willie learns to pay no attention to them. All he really needs is the love of his mother, which is something he's always had. However, when Burt confronts Willie and tries to force him out of town, Willie's life changes unimaginably. This is a heart-felt tale that will make you want to pull for the underdog (Willie). Billie Sue Mosiman is talented in many ways, but I believe her strongest attribute is in her characters. There's no horror element in Rabbit Hunter...just a quality, real-life story that brings compassion to the forefront.Product details

Rabbit Hunter eBook Billie Sue Mosiman Reviews
This book is a must read. I was grabbed at the first and couldn't put it down. I loved everything about it. The dialogue, the visuals and the time way back when. You will not be disappointed, great read!
A classic tale from Mosiman. Seen for the first time in over twenty years has finally reprinted it at last. Life was hard on plain country folk...It was even harder on Willie who saw things a little bit different... Proof once again that Mosiman is a true Wordsmith and a Master of her Craft.
It is often the kindest of hearts and most sensitive of souls that hurt the easiest. Willie has a heart as big as the moon and plenty of love to give if only given the chance. The one thing he was happiest doing was hunting and that is what his mother knew and his brother failed to understand. Having the mind of a child well into his 30's made him a target for ridicule and not even his brother was beyond causing pain of heart to this kind soul.
Wonderful dialogue and memorable characters.
